Diamond MX on-site user training: Introduction to MX at Diamond
Training
Date: 11-Feb-2026 to 12-Feb-2026
Instruct Partner
The macromolecular crystallography (MX) group at Diamond is pleased to announce the first on-site user training of 2026 at Diamond Light Source on 11th-12th February 2026: Introduction to MX at Diamond. Also part of Instruct-ERIC
This training event is specifically aimed at new users of the Diamond MX beamlines and will cover several topics that will arm a user approaching them for the first time with the necessary knowledge and skills to make full use of the automated and high-throughput tools available at Diamond. It may also be particularly useful to those who have only previously participated in unattended data collection (UDC).
The topics covered include:
-
First steps in cryo-crystallography and beyond (I04 & I24)
-
Automated data collection (I03 & VMXi)
-
Data interpretation (MX Data Analysis Group)
-
Getting the best sample (MX Crystallisation facility and Membrane Protein Laboratory (MPL))
-
Next frontiers in X-ray crystallography (VMXm, I23, XFEL Hub, XChem)
As this training session is targeted to new users of the MX beamlines, we encourage ECRs, such as post-doctoral scientists and PhD students who are users or potential MX users to apply. Financial support to attend the training is available to UK based users.
To apply and for further information please see
dls.mx/training. The closing date for applications is noon (GMT) Monday 12th January 2026.
Further on-site training events in 2026 will be announced in due course, including an event tailored to advanced MX techniques available at Diamond.
